Grandma (chic) florals 💐

Ms. S&C recently described her home interior vibe as grandma chic. It is a mixture of family antiques (and paintings from grandma!), coziness, and a few modern touches. (Maybe she’ll post more about this sometime.) What this post is about is 🌼 florals 🌼, and the florals that give off a more grandma vibe. Here’s a look at what’s inspired Ms. S&C lately in the floral category.

Art is where classical and modern can always co-exist. These are especially special because Ms. S&C was able to see them in real life. (And she now has a replica print of Flower Thrower, because #peacefulprotest — bomb the establishment with flowers.)

Be mine

Dear Mr. S&C,

Valentine’s Day is approaching — the day when lovers express their love with gifts of chocolates, flowers, homemade cards, and maybe even shoes? Ms. S&C tells me that you’ve been working like a madman over the past couple of months. I bet you haven’t had much time to think of a gift for your lovely wife? I seem to recall that last year you tried to order flowers on February 13, and the florist laughed at you? Perhaps I can help by offering a few recommendations?

These Giuseppe Zanotti floral pumps are pretty incredible — and a much better gift than a dozen roses. With the rounded toe and pleated detail — they are like a work of art.  Another option is this Noah Love Birds clutch. Bright red and love birds! It practically has Perfect. Valentine’s Day. Gift. written all over it.

S&C brings you more sales alerts.  This time from J.Crew.  I cannot – repeat – cannot, buy more than one pair of shoes from this sale. But, I soooo want a pair of floral pumps for the spring.  And those metallic flats, also with a bow!  You know how much we LOVE bows over here.  Alas, I think I have to be a bit practical and go with the patent flats in navy.  I literally wore out my navy peep-toes from Nine West, so I need a replacement pair.  That’s my excuse anyway. jcrew_floral2

Here are the latest headlines on shoes, cocktails, and things related.

  • S&C said fish pedicures were all the rage! Even NPR has picked up on those flesh-eating skin specialists, and reported that Yvonne Salon has had over 6,000 customers try the treatment. The customers appear happy and the fish are staying well fed. They have apparently doubled in size over the past few months on the steady supply of human skin.
  • You heard it here — floral prints are huge! Over at Footwear News you can check out the garden party that is Spring ’09. Precious petals, rosette embellishments, vibrant colors…View the slide show of beautiful, beautiful shoes. I wish I could snag a picture of those Beverly Feldman floral-print slingbacks. Instead, get a head start on next year’s fashion-forward styles over at Endless, like these by Guess. (Note: there not paying me highlight them–I just really like their selection.)
  • GQ features the 20 best cocktails in America and where to go find them. It looks like you’ll need to travel to Louisville, KY, for the best Manhattan and Block Island, RI, for the best gin and tonic.
