Be mine

Dear Mr. S&C,

Valentine’s Day is approaching — the day when lovers express their love with gifts of chocolates, flowers, homemade cards, and maybe even shoes? Ms. S&C tells me that you’ve been working like a madman over the past couple of months. I bet you haven’t had much time to think of a gift for your lovely wife? I seem to recall that last year you tried to order flowers on February 13, and the florist laughed at you? Perhaps I can help by offering a few recommendations?

These Giuseppe Zanotti floral pumps are pretty incredible — and a much better gift than a dozen roses. With the rounded toe and pleated detail — they are like a work of art.  Another option is this Noah Love Birds clutch. Bright red and love birds! It practically has Perfect. Valentine’s Day. Gift. written all over it.

Killing the blues

I’ve said it before, woman cannot live on shoes alone.  This fact was made clearly evident when I ran across these silk rose covered clutches at Boden.  And pairing this gorgeous bag with these patent trimmed peep-toe slingbacks, and maybe this bow coat?  It is a positively swoon-worthy look.  Enough to kill my winter blues. Spring, where are you?

Light as a feather

feather-shoes

One likes a feather in a cap, why not on a shoe?  Feathers and other exotic embellishments are an emerging trend in footwear.  Tibi spread their wings and designed a couple of beauties.  Fashion Washington currently features the glorious plumage in their “Lush Life” section, which is where I found these make-me-weak-in-the-knees black pumps.  They scream, “Wear me with a little black dress!”  However, Mr. S&C would scream when he saw what it did to our bank account.  Details over at The Little Shoebox.

An equally gorgeous pair are these satin fuchsia sling-backs I saw at The Shoe Hive (although, The Little Shoebox has them in green — yes, please!).  If any of my craftier friends and readers would like to give it a try, this looks like a perfect do-it-yourself project.  And, Ms. S&C would gladly test them out on the town for you.  I think I could stop traffic.  Va va voom.tibi-shoes1posted by Ms. S&C

Girl’s best friend

We know we’ve been heavy-handed on the shoes lately. We promise there are cocktail posts in the near future. But, the last two days in the DC area have given us the first taste of fall weather, and we just can’t resist. Much like the Anthroplogie catalog that arrived yesterday. The first eight pages feature shoes, bags, and dogs. I think I nearly toppled over. Such a hip, artistic collection of accessories. We, of course, want them all–including the jewelry, and super-cool knit tights.

Because we are all about riding boots these season, here are a few of our faves: ripe-red, steely-grey, and subtle-brown. Perfection.

And, because woman cannot live on shoes alone, here are her bags: more fiery-red, minty-green, and cloudy-grey. Très unique.

Only problem is the price tag. And finding the right drink for the hipster/biker/equestrian, and of course, dog lover.

Dry the rain

I am so coveting Tory Burch’s Winnie rain boot. Her whole fall collection is great (an interesting combo of bohemian chic and European riding wear). Made of rubber, with the brand signature in bright yellow at top — these sleek and stylish boots would sure brighten my rainy days, especially those that have me sloshing to and from the metro.
